2009 POSTER

2009 POSTER

Item #: 501820

The Women's Board of Ravinia Festival has selected a poster design by University of Illinois at Chicago graphic design student Kevin Beronilla as the 2009 winer of the 36th annual poster design contest.

Beronilla's poster features Abraham Lincoln sitting on piano keys with an abstract pavilion in the distance, evoking Ravinia's season-long celebration of the 16th president's bicentennial this year. "I browsed through the images of President Lincoln on the internet and found a photograph of the Lincoln Memorial. The form of his seat reminded me of a depressed piano key, and I created my concept through that observation," said Beronilla. "I feel [Lincoln] is one of the more iconic figures in American history because of his position in teh abolition of slavery, expecially during a time of needlework on the fragmented Union. His efforts have resonated to inspire change in America, from civil rights to the election ofour first African-American president."

Printed on 100 lb cover with a semi-gloss finish.

Finished size is 24" x 36" unframed.
