The Ravinia Festival Women's Board was founded in 1962, and since its inception, one of their major tasks has been to select the Ravinia Festival poster from student submissions each year. In 2012, they celebrated their 50th anniversary, and they decided to let the public determine the winner of that year’s contest from three finalists selected by the board and Ravinia CEO Welz Kauffman. Hundreds voted for their favorite posters and, ultimately, a winner was crowned. This design by Daniel Goers of Harper College was voted the victor.
