Short Sabal Necklace

Pendant made of delicate hand-painted parchment with a brass base. Inspired by the sabal palmetto.

This was handcrafted in a small artisan workshop located in Santiago de Compostela, a city with a great tradition of gold- and silversmiths. It was made with an attention to every detail, manipulating the different materials steadily but surely, with the meticulousness of expert and caring hands.

Parchment is an irregular and alive material. It has been used since ancient times, acquiring, with its peculiar tanning, some unique characteristics: lightness, elasticity, and durability. Each skin is different. It is unpredictable, stubborn, and difficult to tame whilst being strong and delicate at the same time.

The leather used to make this jewelry comes from discards from the manufacture of traditional instruments from nearby luthiers, recovered and recycled to give a second life to a noble and natural material. Full of subtlety, color, and harmony, each piece has been hand painted and handcrafted. The color of the product may vary slightly from the pictures shown, due to the variations of each hide and the natural dyes applied by hand.

Care instructions: Avoid contact with perfumes and personal hygiene products as these can damage the parchment or metal.
