A Festival Shop exclusive! This poster is from the painting Ravinia: Music Under the Stars by Tony Benedetto, better known as legendary singer Tony Bennett (1926-2023).
Ravinia fondly remembers the generous spirit that Tony Bennett shared with Chicago in more than 40 appearances. From his first earth-moving concert in July 25, 1984, Bennett quickly earned an open invitation to perform at Ravinia every year.
Always gracious with his time, Bennett returned the cheers and encouragement, meeting with the students of Ravinia’s Reach Teach Play music education programs. In 1988, before just his fourth performance at the festival, he presented his oil painting Ravinia: Music Under the Stars, which continues to have pride of place on display.
Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, but Ravinia will always be honored that it was here that he left so many memories and smiling faces across Chicago.
